Shock Disassembly

Sobriety is overrated.
If it weren't for that half bottle of liquid courage I would never have attempted to use wire ties as spring compressors. Instead I would have just rented the proper tool the next day. However, I was drunk, impatient, and had a stroke of genius. Here's the result.

Remember kids, don't try this at home (even though it worked REALLY well).

This post brought to you by Mount Gay Rum.

  1. cable ties are rated at 50lb each. Should be easy to calculate how many you needed (or how many too few you used).

    1. Yes but drunk math isn't the best math...
I was somewhere around 200psi when I realized I was doing it completely wrong.

Retrospect math yields that I should have been able to get away with 6 safely but I used 8 and 9 on each shock.

  2. This is fantastic, and Mount Gay is some good rum. I wonder if it could help me get some spark to the plugs? I lost it.

I don't know if you're into the darker stuff, but I just tasted the Captain Morgan Black at a buddy's place and it's really tasty.

    1. I haven't tried it, is it like Black Strap?
I'm a big fan of single barrel / estate rums.
Cruzan makes a great single barrel, Mount Gay Extra old is excellent, and Barbancourt is a staple in my rum diet.

    2. No idea! You are clearly a more seasoned rum drinker than I.

    3. Black Strap rum is a molassas flavored rum and tastes like it. It seems like the Captain Black is a potent spiced rum. I might check it out.

  3. Galleon all day baby.

So what is the plan with these apart?

    1. Clean 'em up and repaint the parts that got sprayed yellow.
